Joel Andrés Mynzwall – Sweden

Joel Andrés Mynzwall lives in the western part of Sweden, right next to some of the most beautiful and producing seatrout waters. Joel loves the nature along the seacoast with is vast masses of blue water, but is equally in love with the dark mysterious inland lakes filled with dark colored brown trout. Either place produce great moments and often some unbeatable evenings around a campfire, preparing coffee and something to eat.

Joel fishes mostly for seatrout and browntrout, but as a Swede he does of course also fish for pike, perch and Zander…..and always on a fly!

Joel also ties a lot of flies, and as beeing innovative and curious, he always tries to improve patterns and techniques.

My Favorit Gear

Coastal Seatrout

Rod:

Phantom 9’ # 6.

A super delicate feeling combined with a lot of casting power and extremely low weight makes this rod the ultimate flyrod for my fishing.

Reel:

PENA # 4/6

This reel matches the Spook Seatrout rod to perfection, due to the very low weight, smooth brake and of course the looks of this reel……

Line:

I have always had a crush on the Vector lines, as they cast so well, but lately I have started using shooting heads. The Pro series heads and running line is really good. Especially the shorter heads (Specialist and Presentation) works perfect in my area along the Westcoast of Sweden where you find limited space for backcasts due to the cliffs.

If I go to the coasts in the southern part of Sweden, where you have plenty of room for your backcast I tend to use the Quick Shoot WF lines. You have to try them to understand the power these lines have. They way the punsch through wind is truly unique

My Favorite Flies:

Scuds in orange with an olive back, a tan colored version of ”Pattegrisen” made of polar hair with a back of Fox Body. See thru Shrimp in Salmon color.

Brown trout

Rod:

Avon 8’9” # 5

The feeling of having something in your hand that feels extremely light and delicate, but at the same time has a power reserve that is really difficult to descripe….

Reel:

Pena # 4/6

This reel fits the Avon so perfect in any aspect.

Line:

When fishing in lakes i use the Pro Series Shooting head system with the Presentation heads. This system makes it easy and fast for me to change between Floating and Intermediate, without having to change spools, or even have 2 sets of equipment with me.
